Bravo! Raw Diet

If you are a raw veteran or a newbie, premade diets can be very helpful stepping stone tool! There are a wide variety of premade raw diets. Some are meat and organ only, and some have ground bone and veggies added in as well.
Premade raw diets are great for when you forget to defrost dinner, adding in 'exotic' meats you might not find at the store (bison, rabbit), and they are very convienent for those times when you are traveling or boarding your dog and don't want to haul around an ice chest of random meat parts and squishy organs.
There are many different companies that make premade raw, but today lets focus on one specific brand, Bravo! Raw Diets. I chose Bravo! because they package their diets in the 'chub' form, versus premade patties or medallions, that will cost more. Bravo! Chubs come in 1, 2, and 5lb chubs.
Bravo! products have several different varieties of chubs.
Original - Premium grade ground meats, organs, bone and vegetables. Comes in chicken, beef, turkey, lamb and pork varieties.
Basic - Premium grade ground meats, organs and/or bones. No veggies. Comes in chicken, turkey, lamb, rabbit, ostrich, elk, duck and quail varieties.
Boneless Meat - Just as it says, no ground bone. This would be a good choice if you wanted to customize your own diet (add your own ground bone, supplements, organs). Comes in Beef & beef heart, buffalo, venison and salmon varieties.
I personally have only tried the Original formula. It's a house favoite here! It is a little bone heavy (like most premade diets), so I would not recommend feeding a premade diet as the main diet. Supplementing with other fresh meats while feeding Bravo! can help even out digestive problems.
-A raw diet is not for everyone. Please do all the research you can before switching your dogs diet.

Daily Adventures!

Here are some fun pictures of me hanging out with Mom on her days off :) In the picture above we are crusing along my favorite walk! It's a 5 mile dirt road with a canal on each side convienently located right behind our apartments. This canal isn't full today..

But on this side the canal is full! Weird, eh?

I really wanted to grab those fish that were in the canal! They were HUGE! Mom said they were called "arowanas" and "pacu". Mom freaked out and had to pull me away, I almost jumped in right after this photo was taken. Mom says she likes sushi, but I'm not too sure... I mean who would turn down super fresh sushi like this!?

Next we went to the dog park. We went early today at noon, so no pups were there today :( But you'll NEVER believe what I saw!....

...Sheep! A whole herd of them! Well I think I'm going to relax and sunbathe while Mom goes and gets some grub... I hope all my friends are having a good Thursday! :)

Nature's Recipe Rabbit & Rice Canned Dog Food

Nature's Recipe Rabbit & Rice Canned Dog Food is a good choice to add in some new protein sources for variety! And we all know variety is the spice of life :)

I personally chose the Rabbit & Rice formula because it does not contain any animal digest, unlike other Nature's Recipe products. If you do not know what animal digest is, here is a brief discription (taken from http://www.dogfoodproject.com/)

"A cooked-down broth made from unspecified parts of unspecified animals. The animals used can be obtained from any source, so there is no control over quality or contamination. Any kind of animal can be included: "4-D animals" (dead, diseased, disabled, or dying prior to slaughter), goats, pigs, horses, rats, misc. roadkill, animals euthanized at shelters, restaurant and supermarket refuse and so on. "

Not too appetizing, eh?!

Well, Nature's Recipe Rabbit & Rice formula definately wins the taste test! The cans run for about $1.39 a can. Most Nature's Recipe cans are much cheaper, but since rabbit is considered an 'exotic' protein source, it will be more expensive. You can find any Nature's Recipe products at your local Petsmart :)
